Shonen Ninja Kaze no Fujimaru
Aired: 1964 - 1965
A TV anime produced by Toei Doga. Originally conceived from Sanpei Shirato's rental-bookstore manga 'Ninja Senpu,' but the work shifted to Toei Doga original development during adaptation due to sponsor requirements, with the original work credit becoming a planning team byname. Broadcast in 65 episodes on the NET (now TV Asahi) network from June 7, 1964 to August 31, 1965. Fujimaru (voiced by Nana Yamaguchi), a boy raised in the Fuma ninja village, uses the wind ninjutsu to confront evil ninjas serving Takeda Shingen in this Sengoku-era ninja action work. As Toei Doga's first 30-minute TV anime series, it is an important work that established the company's TV mass-production system, which had previously been centered on theatrical animation. Many young animators who would later be active in works such as Horus, Prince of the Sun and Lupin III participated in the staff, making it a training ground for the creator corps. Sponsored by Takeda Pharmaceutical. (C)Toei Animation
