A TV anime produced by Shin-Ei Animation, based on the manga by Marimo Ragawa serialized in Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Magazine (31 volumes, 2010-2022). The series has sold over 4.5 million copies (as of April 2021). After the death of his grandfather Matsugoro, a legendary Tsugaru shamisen player, young Setsu Sawamura loses his own sound and can no longer play. Leaving his hometown in Aomori for Tokyo, Setsu transfers to Umezono Academy on his mother Umeko's orders and joins the Tsugaru Shamisen Appreciation Club. Competing alongside his brother Wakana and rival Kiyora Kamiki, he aims for the All-Japan Tsugaru Shamisen Competition. 12 episodes. Directed by Hiroaki Akagi. Music by Yuki Sekine and Akinori Handa, with shamisen supervision by the Yoshida Brothers.
