The Faraway Paladin

A TV anime produced by Children's Playground Entertainment, based on the light novel by Kanata Yanagino published by Overlap Bunko, originating from "Shosetsuka ni Narou." The series has approximately 3 million copies in circulation (as of 2023). Spanning 12 episodes, the story follows Will (William G. Maryblood), the only living child in a ruined city of the dead. He is raised by three undead beings: the skeletal warrior Blood, the mummified priestess Mary, and the ghostly mage Gus. Learning swordsmanship, faith, and magic from his three guardians, Will grows up loved but eventually must confront the secrets of their past and the truth of his own birth. Becoming a paladin of the god of the flame Gracefeel, Will bids farewell to his undead family and sets out into the wider world. Main cast includes Maki Kawase as Will, Katsuyuki Konishi as Blood, Yui Horie as Mary, and Nobuo Tobita as Gus.
