Gintama: The Final is a theatrical anime film produced by BN Pictures. Based on the manga series "Gintama" by Hideaki Sorachi, serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump, the film was released on January 8, 2021 as the conclusion of the long-running anime franchise. The manga has sold over 73 million copies worldwide. In this finale, former allies Gintoki Sakata, Shinsuke Takasugi, and Kotaro Katsura face their ultimate battle against Utsuro, an alternate personality of their childhood mentor Shoyo Yoshida. As a countdown to Earth's destruction looms, Gintoki and his companions from the Odd Jobs, the Shinsengumi, and the Joi rebels unite for one last fight. With a runtime of 104 minutes, the film was directed and written by Chizuru Miyawaki with Yoichi Fujita as supervisor. The voice cast includes Tomokazu Sugita, Daisuke Sakaguchi, Rie Kugimiya, Takehito Koyasu, Akira Ishida, Kenichi Suzumura, Kazuya Nakai, and Shinpachi Chiba. The music was composed by Audio Highs, with the theme song "Wadachi" by SPYAIR. The film earned approximately 1.9 billion yen, setting a franchise box office record. Distributed by Warner Bros.
