Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal The Movie Part 1 is a theatrical anime film co-produced by Toei Animation and Studio Deen. It is the first part of a two-part adaptation of the "Dead Moon" arc (the fourth arc) of Naoko Takeuchi's manga "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon," originally serialized in Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine. The film was released on January 8, 2021. The manga series has sold over 46 million copies worldwide (as of 2023). On the day of the greatest total solar eclipse of the century, a Pegasus named Helios appears before Usagi Tsukino and Chibiusa, pleading for help to find the "maiden" who can break the seal on the Golden Crystal. At the same time, a mysterious circus troupe called the Dead Moon Circus appears in the city, spreading nightmare incarnations called Lemures. The Sailor Guardians must confront their individual dreams and weaknesses while battling this new enemy. With a runtime of 80 minutes, the film was directed by Chiaki Kon with a screenplay by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu and original work/supervision by Naoko Takeuchi. The voice cast includes Kotono Mitsuishi, Hisako Kanemoto, Rina Sato, Ami Koshimizu, Shizuka Ito, Misato Fukuen, Kenji Nojima, and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka. The music was composed by Yasuharu Takanashi.
