A TV anime (2020 version) produced by Toei Animation, based on the manga by Riku Sanjo (story) and Koji Inada (art) serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump. Over 50 million copies in circulation. Set in the Dragon Quest universe, it depicts the battle between the Demon Lord Hadlar's army and humanity. Dai, a boy raised by the swordmaster Avan on Dermline Island, embarks on an adventure when Hadlar is resurrected. With companions Pop, Maam, Hyunckel, and Princess Leona, he confronts the Dark Lord Vearn's ambitions. A complete remake of the 1991 anime, adapting the original manga to completion. 100 episodes (October 2020 - October 2022). Directed by Kazuya Karasawa, music by Yuki Hayashi.
