A theatrical anime produced by MAPPA, an extended version of the film based on Fumiyo Kouno's manga published by Futabasha, released on December 20, 2019. Directed by Sunao Katabuchi. Set in Hiroshima and Kure during World War II, the extended version adds approximately 30 minutes of new episodes centered on Rin to the original's gentle depiction of Suzu's daily life, deepening the narrative. Won Best Animation at the 43rd Japan Academy Film Prize.
