A TV anime produced by OLM, Production I.G, and Signal.MD. Based on Osamu Tezuka's Astro Boy as the original concept, with manga adaptation by Tetsuro Kasahara and Masami Yuuki. A prequel to Astro Boy's creation following young Umataro Tenma and Hiroshi Ochanomizu meeting at university, exploring the possibility of "robots with hearts" through their research on AI robot "Bewusstsein." Centering on prototype robot A106, the series depicts the cutting edge of robotics in near-future Japan.
