A 12-episode dark psychological anime broadcast on TV Tokyo from January to March 2000, produced by Madhouse. Based on Kouhei Kadono's light novel, directed by Takashi Watanabe. Set in a city one month after a mysterious pillar of light appeared, the series follows high school students caught up in the urban legend of "Boogiepop" — a mythical entity said to kill people at their most beautiful moment. Told in non-linear anthology format, each episode overlaps to reveal the truth: Boogiepop is a second personality of high school girl Touka Miyashita.
