Kannagi: Crazy Shrine Maidens

"Kannagi: Crazy Shrine Maidens" is a TV anime based on the manga by Eri Takenashi, produced by A-1 Pictures. It aired from October to December 2008 for 13 episodes. Directed by Yutaka Yamamoto. The story begins when high school art student Jin Mikuriya carves a spirit statue from a local sacred tree, which comes to life as Nagi, a land goddess. Nagi begins living with Jin to purify local impurities called "Kegare," but her true nature and purpose spark various comical incidents.
