"ef - a tale of melodies." is the second season of the TV anime based on the latter half of minori's PC game "ef - a fairy tale of the two." Produced by SHAFT, directed by Shin Oonuma (chief director: Akiyuki Shinbo), it aired from October to December 2008 for 12 episodes. Expanding the timeline from the previous "ef - a tale of memories.," the series weaves together the tragic past romance of Shuichi Kuze and Yuko Amamiya with the present-day story of Kei Shindou and Mizuki Hayama. With profound psychological portrayals and SHAFT's distinctive visual direction, the series delicately explores themes of love, loss, and rebirth. The music by Tenmon was also highly acclaimed.
