Shigurui: Death Frenzy is a TV anime produced by Madhouse, adapted from Takayuki Yamaguchi's manga based on Norio Nanjo's novel "Suruga-jo Gozen Jiai." Broadcast on WOWOW from July to October 2007 for 12 episodes. Set in early Edo period Japan, the story depicts a deadly real-sword duel between one-armed swordsman Fujiki Gennosuke and blind, lame swordsman Irako Seigen. Once fellow disciples under master swordsman Iwamoto Kogan, they harbor a brutal rivalry over succession.
