Kitaro, a young ghost-tribe boy who bridges the worlds of humans and supernatural creatures, travels with his father Medama-Oyaji and friends such as Nekomusume and Nezumi-Otoko to confront malevolent spirits threatening humankind. Balancing the original manga's eerie melancholy with a refreshed sensibility, this incarnation introduced Kitaro's folklore-rich world to a new generation of viewers.
