A fantasy romance anime based on Yuu Watase's shojo manga. Middle school girl Miaka Yuki and her friend Yui are pulled into an ancient-China-styled parallel world through a mysterious book, where Miaka takes on the role of the Priestess of Suzaku. Combining friendship, romance and destiny, the series became a landmark shojo fantasy adaptation.
