The second TV anime adaptation of Yoichi Takahashi's popular soccer manga Captain Tsubasa, broadcast on Fuji TV for 47 episodes from October 1994 to December 1995 and produced by Studio Comet. The series re-animates the elementary-school Nankatsu arc before moving into the early portion of the original World Youth arc, tracing Tsubasa Ozora's boyhood glory and his subsequent battles at the World Youth Championship. Delicate performances and match direction bring out the passion, friendship and growth of young footballers, highlighting Tsubasa's bonds with rivals Kojiro Hyuga and Taro Misaki, plus new figures like Shingo Aoi in the World Youth chapters.
