A TV anime based on Gosho Aoyama's Weekly Shonen Sunday manga Yaiba, broadcast on TV Tokyo for 52 episodes from April 1993. Jungle-raised boy Yaiba Kurogane moves into the home of his friend Soji Okita and throws himself into sword training, only to become entangled in a rivalry with the ambitious demon-snake warrior Onimaru, triggering a globe-trotting quest for the eight elemental orbs of wind, thunder, water and more. Built around swordplay but never afraid to break into slapstick with jets and fighter planes, the series overflows with the shonen values of friendship, effort and victory.
