Coo: From a Distant Ocean

A theatrical anime adapted from Tamio Kageyama's Naoki Prize-winning novel, produced by Toei Doga. A Japanese boy living in Fiji with his guide father stumbles on a mysterious sea creature he names Coo and slowly forms a family-like bond with it. When militaries and research labs descend on the island intent on capturing the creature, he and his friends launch a dangerous escape, in a heartfelt ecological fable about the dignity of all life and the fragility of the natural world. Yumi Matsutoya's theme 'Zutto Soba ni' and Julian Lennon's insert song 'Children of the World' weave the boy's tender, urgent prayer through luminous Pacific waters.
