An anime-and-live-action hybrid weekday strip broadcast on TV Asahi, based on the gag manga by Mickey Toritani serialized in Junior Jump Comics. Ordinary elementary schooler Mugi Miwa's class welcomes a beautiful new transfer student, Miya Touin, whose ancestry turns out to be partly yokai, sparking rapid-fire slapstick comedy. The series alternates animated segments with live-action sketches that play up the cast's reactions, creating a quirky format unusual for its slot. The opening CREAMSODA MELLONSODA by all-girl rock band GO-BANG'S is a punchy, propulsive theme that gave the show its hip musical edge and became a hit among the show's young female audience.
