TV special anime produced by Studio Pierrot, adapting Kenichi Sakemi's novel 'Kokyu Shosetsu,' under chief director Eiko Toriumi with character designs by Katsuya Kondo. Broadcast on Nippon TV's Friday Roadshow. Set in the fictional ancient Chinese-style empire of Sokan-koku, the story follows ordinary village girl Ginga, who applies to be an imperial concubine drawn by promises of three meals and naps, only to find herself caught in court intrigue and rebellion as bonds form among the candidates.
