TV special anime co-produced by TV Asahi and Sunrise, adapting Katsuhiko Hotta's four-panel manga 'Obatarian.' The title, a buzzword combining 'obasan' (middle-aged woman) and 'Battalion,' frames the everyday antics of brash, brassy older women in dark comedic style. Centered on protagonist Kinuyo and her family - husband Yoshio, daughter Seiko, and son Minoru - it unfolds in a six-segment omnibus. With veteran voice talent including Tomie Kataoka, Keiichi Toyama, Yuko Sasaki, and Chinatsu Sakamoto, plus theme songs by The Magokoro Brothers, this distinctive anime captured the zeitgeist of bubble-era Japan.
