Anime film produced by Nippon Sunrise and distributed by Shochiku-Fuji, an entirely new theatrical work directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino that depicts the finale cut short during the TV series broadcast. Released simultaneously with 'A Contact' on July 10, 1982. The film's devastating conclusion, in which both humanity and the Buff Clan annihilate each other, earned Tomino the nickname 'Kill-Em-All Tomino' and cemented this as a landmark of Japanese animation. The synthesis of Koichi Sugiyama's solemn score, dense character drama, and the philosophical theme of 'Will of the Cosmos' made it legendary. (C)Sunrise
