Anime film produced by Tokyo Movie Shinsha and distributed by Toho. A 1982 compilation theatrical version re-edited from the TV series (1968-1971) of the enduring baseball manga 'Kyojin no Hoshi' by Ikki Kajiwara and Noboru Kawasaki serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine. Released August 21, 1982, the film centers on the 'Blood-Stained Final' arc, reconstructed by 'Cobra' screenwriter Haruya Yamazaki and directors Tadao Nagahama and Tetsu Dezaki. It distills the youth of Hyuma Hoshi, who endures his father Ittetsu's spartan training to chase his dream of joining the Yomiuri Giants.
