Bright-eyed red-haired heroine Sandybell lives a happy life with her newspaperman father and beloved dog Oliver in a small Highland village until a secret tied to her late mother's keepsakes sets her on a journey across London, Paris and Switzerland. Carrying her camera and dreaming of becoming a journalist, Sandybell faces hardships with courage and warmth, meeting the kindly Wellington heir Mark, contending with the jealous noblewoman Kitty, and growing through each encounter on her quest to uncover the truth of her mother's past. The theme song, written by Yoshiko Miura, composed by Takeo Watanabe and arranged by Joe Hisaishi, performed by Mitsuko Horie, is regarded as a classic anthem of classic-shojo anime music.
