A television anime produced by Tatsunoko Production and broadcast on the Fuji TV network, a Tatsunoko-style hero-gag science-fiction work. Takoro, a space sheriff pursuing the villainous Kurodako Brothers who scheme to conquer Earth, sprays a special ink on the boy Rin that grants him transformation powers. Rin transforms into the justice-loving hero Muteking, who fights spectacular battles on roller skates against the rubber-monster robots deployed by the Kurodako Brothers. With its sporty roller-skate action, light comedy, and the comical banter of distinctive villain characters, it is a brisk comedy-hero work characteristic of Tatsunoko. It is also notable as the practical debut of lyricist Yasushi Akimoto, who later achieved great fame, contributing lyrics to one of the insert songs.
