A girls' anime produced by Toei Doga (Toei Animation), based on the manga by Kyoko Mizuki and Yumiko Igarashi serialized in Kodansha's Nakayoshi. In early 20th-century Michigan, redhead freckled orphan Candice White Ardlay is adopted by the wealthy Ardlay family, studies in England at St. Paul Academy, and meets her destined loves Anthony and Terrius. Working as a nurse during WWI, she experiences love and hardship in a 115-episode masterpiece that became a worldwide phenomenon.
