An SF action anime produced by Tatsunoko Production. Dr. Kozaburo Nambu of the International Science Organization assembles the Science Ninja Team Gatchaman to fight the world-conquering secret society Galactor (Sosai X / Berg Katze). Five members—leader Ken (Eagle Ken), Joe (Condor Joe), Jun (Swan Jun), Jinpei the child, and Ryu—pilot God Phoenix against Galactor's giant beast mecha. With director Tatsuo Yoshida and mecha design by Mitsuki Nakamura, the series brought robust heroism and social themes to TV anime. 105 episodes.
