Theatrical compilation feature recutting the 53-episode World Masterpiece Theater TV anime 'Perrine Monogatari,' based on Hector Malot's juvenile novel 'En Famille' (Nobody's Girl), into a 110-minute film. Produced by Nippon Animation, the original Fuji TV series aired in 1978; this theatrical edit was completed in 1980 but shelved before finally seeing release in 1990. The moving story follows Perrine, who travels with her ailing mother across France to her late father's homeland; after her mother's death she perseveres alone, hoping for reconciliation with her grandfather.
