Gagaga SP (short for Gagaga Special) is a Japanese punk rock band formed in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture. They are celebrated for delivering loud, unvarnished anthems of youthful frustration, heartbreak, and reckless hope, with lyrics that read less like polished verse and more like shouted diary entries from the mosh pit. Their energetic, scrappy performances and earnest songwriting made them cult favorites of the early-2000s Japanese punk scene, and signature songs such as "Sotsugyou" (Graduation) and "Banshu" (Late Autumn) became beloved sing-alongs for fans looking for music that felt genuinely lived-in. On the anime side, they contributed the opening theme "Zenkoku Musekinin Jidai" to Sgt. Frog (Keroro Gunso), matching the absurd alien-invasion comedy with appropriately unhinged punk energy. They also performed "Tomo yo," the opening theme for the Edo-period action anime Mushibugyo, where their roaring guitars and impassioned shouting suited the show's larger-than-life battle sequences.
