Rin Hoshizora is one of the nine school idols of μ's, the in-show idol group at Otonokizaka High School in the TV anime Love Live! A first-year student who is boundlessly energetic and loves sports, she is the resident tomboy of the group, often seen bouncing around in a tracksuit and punctuating her sentences with a cute "-nya" at the end, as though she were a friendly stray cat. Her best friend Hanayo is the shy yin to her exuberant yang, and together they form one of the group's most beloved pairings. Behind Rin's cheerful exterior, her arc quietly touches on insecurities about her own femininity, which the group gently helps her work through. She is voiced by Riho Iida, a Japanese actress and singer who got her start as a junior idol before stepping into voice acting. Iida's bright, bouncy vocal performances brought Rin's boundless energy to life and made her a standout member of μ's.
