Hanayo Koizumi is a first-year student at Otonokizaka High School and a member of μ's, the school idol group of the anime Love Live!. So timid she struggles even to speak up in class, she nonetheless holds encyclopedic knowledge of idol culture and a famously intense love of white rice, earning the affectionate nickname 'Kayo-chin.' Her arc from hesitant fan to confident stage performer is one of the most cherished threads in the series. She is voiced and sung by Yurika Kubo, a member of the real-world voice-cast unit μ's, whose soft, gently fragile delivery draws out Hanayo's nervous sincerity, making the character and performer inseparable in fans' hearts.
