Hanayo Koizumi is one of the nine school idols of μ's, the in-show idol group at Otonokizaka High School in the TV anime Love Live! A first-year student who is almost painfully shy, she initially struggles to even speak up in class, yet she harbors a passionate, encyclopedic love for idols that becomes a driving force in convincing her to join the group. Fondly nicknamed "Kayo-chin" by her friends, she is also famously obsessed with white rice, a running gag that has become one of her most endearing traits. Her arc is a classic story of a timid fan finding the courage to stand in the spotlight herself, and fans rally behind her every hesitant step. She is voiced by Yurika Kubo, a Japanese voice actress who is also part of the real-world voice cast unit μ's that performs the group's songs at its legendary live concerts.
