Nico Yazawa is one of the nine school idols of μ's, the in-show idol group at Otonokizaka High School in the TV anime Love Live! A petite third-year student with long twin pigtails, she declares herself the cutest and most idol-like member of the group and is famous for her signature catchphrase "Nicco nicco nii," which she delivers with a heart-shaped gesture that has become one of the series' most iconic images. Beneath her attention-hungry exterior, she is a devoted fan of idol culture and carries the responsibility of caring for her younger siblings. She is voiced by Sora Tokui, a Japanese voice actress who is also a member of the real-world voice cast unit μ's that brings the group's performances to life off-screen. Tokui's playful, high-pitched delivery has become inseparable from the character in fans' minds, and her portrayal helped turn Nico into one of the most instantly recognizable figures in the Love Live! franchise.
