NEWS is a Japanese male idol group originally under the former Johnny & Associates agency (now STARTO ENTERTAINMENT). Formed as a nine-member group in the early 2000s to serve as the image character for the FIVB Volleyball World Cup, they made their CD debut that same year with 'NEWS Nippon.' After various lineup changes, they have continued as a streamlined unit at the forefront of the idol scene, providing opening themes for anime such as 'Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon' and 'Kindaichi Case Files Returns.'
