A character credit for the protagonist Satoshi (known as Ash overseas) of the TV anime Pokemon, voiced for many years by Rica Matsumoto. Through Matsumoto, Satoshi grew into a boyhood trainer beloved across generations, while she also performed numerous theme and insert songs in her vibrant, straight-shooting voice. For Pokemon Sun and Moon, which depicts a school-life-style adventure set in the Alola region, she sings the opening theme Alola!! together with Ikue Otani as his partner Pikachu, riding a sunny tropical sound that captures Satoshi's excitement at stepping into a new challenge.
