A five-piece rock band consisting of RYUICHI (vocals), SUGIZO (guitar and violin), INORAN (guitar), J (bass), and Shinya (drums). Formed in the late 1980s, they helped pioneer Japan's visual kei scene. Their name combines the Latin word for moon with the English sea, expressing music as varied as the moon and as deep and wide as the ocean. After multi-platinum success, a hiatus, and a Tokyo Dome reunion, they remain active worldwide. Their song Limit served as the opening theme for the TV anime Endride, lending its fantasy world a heavy, dramatic flair.
