Japanese singer, actress, and lyricist from Yokohama, Kanagawa, signed to Toho Entertainment. After debuting through the 3rd Miss Magazine contest jury award, she debuted as a singer with the single Sotsugyou. She starred in the NHK morning drama Hane Koma and has been broadly active as both actress and singer. Her single Kanashimi yo Konnichiwa became a hit as the opening theme of the anime Maison Ikkoku, leading to a Kohaku Uta Gassen appearance. She also won the Arts Festival Newcomer Award playing Cosette in the musical Les Misérables.
