MELL emerged as one of the signature vocalists of the techno and trance production collective I've Sound, then went on to a celebrated solo career. Her 2006 solo single Red fraction, written as the opening theme for the TV anime Black Lagoon and reused for its sequel Black Lagoon The Second Barrage, became a definitive match between her forceful vocals and the show's hard-boiled tone. She has since fronted openings including Virgin's high! for the TV anime Sky Girls, Proof for the TV anime Hayate the Combat Butler, and RIDEBACK for the TV anime RIDEBACK.
