midori is a singer who performed the ending themes Hajimari no Asa ni Hikari Are. and Tsuki ni Kakuseshi Chou no Yume for Shangri-La, the sci-fi anime based on Eiichi Ikegami's novel about a near-future submerged Tokyo. Both songs were written and composed by Hitomi Kuroishi, known for her work on Code Geass. With a structure that alternated two endings according to the story's progression, midori's translucent voice quietly brought out the mythological, fantastical atmosphere and the layered themes of a society turned jungle and bound to carbon trading. The endings played a key role in articulating an additional theme of the work.
