ULTIMATE LAZY for MAZINGER is a special unit assembling lavish artists including Tamio Okuda, Kazuyoshi Saito, and JAM Project around the veteran rock band LAZY, known for once including Hironobu Kageyama in its lineup. They performed the opening theme Kanjite Knight for Shin Mazinger Shougeki! Z-Hen, the robot anime based on Go Nagai's original work. With lyrics by Ayumu Date and Hironobu Kageyama, music by Kimio Mizutani, and arrangement by LAZY themselves, this 1970s-flavoured rock sound and fiery chorus, fitting for a remake of the Mazinger Z franchise, produced an orthodox giant-robot anime opening.
