Kukikodan is a Japanese band formed in 1997 that made its major-label debut on Toys Factory in 1997, now operating as a solo project by Yukari Yamazaki. The group is known for everyday-language lyrics, finely crafted arrangements, and warm, understated female vocals. For the TV anime Aoi Hana, they performed the eponymous opening theme Aoi Hana, supporting Takako Shimura's delicate manga about young girls' intertwined feelings with a soft, gentle sound that suited the show. Written and composed by Yukari Yamazaki and arranged by Wataru Kubota, the tie-in single also included original tracks, foregrounding the band's songwriting voice.
