FUNKIST is a Japanese rock band formed in 2001, centred on vocalist Saigo Someya and guitarist Taiji Miyata. Reflecting Someya's South African childhood, the band's signature is a mixture sound that crosses funk, soul and reggae, and they tour energetically both at home and overseas. Their signature anime work is 'Snow fairy', the very first opening theme of 'Fairy Tail', a singalong anthem with English hooks that powerfully launched the long-running series and remains beloved among international fans.
