RYU is a Korean male singer who became known in both Korea and Japan for performing 'From the Beginning Until Now' (Choeumbuteo Jigeumkkaji), the theme song of the Korean drama 'Winter Sonata'. Carried on his gentle, expansive tenor, the song became one of the signature ballads of the Korean Wave alongside the drama's enormous success. The track was retained as the opening theme of the Japanese anime adaptation of 'Winter Sonata' broadcast on NHK BS2 and elsewhere, bridging the franchise from live action to animation.
