e.mu is a Japanese visual kei rock band formed in Hokkaido in 1997. They made their major-label debut on Universal Music in 2000 with the single love around, produced by X JAPAN's PATA, going on to release eight singles and one full album before disbanding in 2003. In anime, their debut single love around was adopted as an ending theme for the late-night series Kaikan Phrase, and the band itself appeared inside the original manga's volume 14 with its real name and members (Mizuki, Daisuke, Yuku, Takahiro) reimagined as an in-story band. The case stands as a striking example of the late-1990s entanglement between the visual kei scene and shojo manga/anime.
