Wuyuntana

Wuyuntana is a Mongolian singer from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China. She moved to Japan in 1987, entered the graduate school of Showa Women's University the following year, and began her music activities while still a student. Her style carries the breadth of khoomei and Mongolian melody while singing in Japanese, and she has been favored for anime works that demand mystique and scale. A signature contribution is the opening theme 'Yume no Kakera' for the Sunrise sci-fi horror 'Betterman' directed by Yoshitomo Yonetani, where her vocal combined with Kohei Tanaka's composition and Takayuki Negishi's arrangement defines the unsettling, dreamlike mood at the start of each episode. She has also contributed as a vocalist across genres in titles such as 'Macross Plus', 'Shamanic Princess' and the 'Cardcaptor Sakura' film.
