Whiteberry

Artist

Whiteberry is a five-piece girls pop-rock band from Kitami in Hokkaido. Drawing attention for the fresh band ensemble of their teenage members, they made their CD debut in August 1999 with the mini-album 'after school', whose song 'Tsuugakuro' was used as the early ending theme for the TV Tokyo anime 'Kyoro-chan'. Written by the band and composed by Hayato Onda, bassist of JUDY AND MARY, the track inherits the youthful band sound in the lineage of Jitterin'Jinn and gave the children's anime a refreshing afterglow of the walk home from school. In 2000 their cover of Jitterin'Jinn's 'Natsu Matsuri' became a mega-hit and spread as a staple of summer festivals and karaoke. As a girls band that made its major debut in their teens, they have left a name in Japanese rock history.
