Akiko Yano is a musician who performed the theme song "Hitoribocchi wa Yameta" for the Studio Ghibli film "My Neighbors the Yamadas" (1999), directed by Isao Takahata. She wrote, composed, and arranged the track herself. One of Japan's most prominent singer-songwriters, known for her collaborations with Ryuichi Sakamoto of YMO.
