Weiss is the in-story character-name unit at the heart of the voice-actor multimedia project 'Weiss Kreuz,' originally conceived by Takehito Koyasu. On the surface the four men run the flower shop Koneko no Sumu Ie, while moonlighting as assassins, and Takehito Koyasu, Tomokazu Seki, Shin-ichiro Miki and Hiro Yuki double as the cast and the vocal unit. For the 2002 follow-up 'Weiss Kreuz Gluhen' they handled the opening 'Gluhen' and the endings 'Stone Roses' and 'Tomorrow'—all written by Tsuyoshi Aida, composed and arranged by Kazuya Nishioka—pairing dark, melodic rock with the show's noir atmosphere. They had previously sung 'Velvet Underworld' and 'Beautiful Alone' for the 1998 original series, making them one of the defining voice-actor-driven anime units of their era.
