Otoya Kichiemon is an acoustic unit formed in spring 2006 by rock vocalist Masanori Sera and guitarist Yoshio Nomura. Their signature anime-related work is a cover of 'Yatterman no Uta' — the opening theme for the 2008 TV anime 'Yatterman' — with lyrics by Ichiro Wakabayashi and Masayuki Yamamoto and composition by Masayuki Yamamoto. They rebuilt the classic acoustically, pairing Sera's shouted vocal style with Nomura's guitar work. Released as a single in January 2008, it reached number 38 on Oricon's weekly chart, bringing playful warmth and a thick groove that only two veteran musicians could deliver to a song beloved across generations.
