GO!GO!7188 is a three-piece rock band consisting of Yumi Nakajima (Yuu, guitar and vocals), Akiko Noma (Akko, bass and vocals), and Turkey (drums). They made their major debut in 2000 with the single Taiyou, blending Japanese and Western influences into an energetic girls-rock sound led by twin female vocals, and earning broad popularity with hits such as Koi no Uta and Ukifune. The band also performed Kataomoi Fighter, the ending theme for the anime Itazura na Kiss, a propulsive track with lyrics by Noma and music by Nakajima that perfectly complemented the romantic comedy series.
