GRAPEVINE is a Japanese alternative rock band formed in Osaka in 1993, centred on vocalist-guitarist Kazumasa Tanaka, guitarist Hirotaka Nishikawa and drummer Toru Kamei. They made their major debut in 1997 with the mini-album 'Kakusei', and broke through with the singles 'Slow' and 'Hikari ni Tsuite' from their second album 'Lifetime'. The band's name is taken from Marvin Gaye's 'I Heard It Through The Grapevine'. Their anime work includes the ending theme 'wants' for 'Blade of the Immortal', whose literary lyrics and brooding melody fit naturally with the original manga's austere mood.
