Yusaku Kiyama is a Japanese singer born in 1968 with an unusual path to the industry: he played in a band as a university student, gave up on music for a salaryman career, and after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2004 and undergoing surgery decided to pursue singing seriously. He made his major debut in 2008 with 'home', a family-themed song that took him to the 59th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen the same year. In anime he is known for performing 'Eien', the ending theme of 'Skip Beat!', with lyrics and music by Kunio Tago and arrangement by Toru Watanabe - a warm, family-minded ballad consistent with his signature material.
